Simon Daniel Whybrew earned his bachelor’s degree in English and American studies and Sociology at the Universität Kassel with a bachelor’s thesis on the “Crisis or Failure of Hegemonic Masculinities in David Lodge’s Campus Trilogy” in 2012, which he subsequently published with KOBRA, the university’s open access service. In October 2012, he began working toward his master’s degree in North American studies at Philipps-Universität Marburg, and he is currently participating in a student exchange program with Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen. After the end of this program, he plans to complete his master’s and pursue a PhD in American studies. His research interests include modern, postmodern, and contemporary fiction; popular culture; and cultural and literary theory, with a focus on gender studies, masculinity studies, and poststructuralism.
